Drogheda Economic Forum
Mayor O'Dowd

Louth Local Authorities commissioned Indecon International Economic Consultants to draw up an Economic Development Strategy for Drogheda and its Environs. The Strategy, which was published in March 2009, recommended the establishment of a new action-oriented and results-based group to replace the old Drogheda Economic Development Group. This led to the establishment of the Drogheda Economic Forum which is chaired by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and which has a membership made up of representatives from private and public sector stakeholders, including Drogheda Borough Council, IDA, Enterprise Ireland, DIFE, etc. The work of the Drogheda Economic Forum also feeds into and compliments the work of County Louth Economic Forum which functions at a county-at-large level.

The Drogheda Economic Forum is responsible for driving the Strategy and continues the work of the Drogheda Economic Development Group, which was originally formed in March 2004. The Forum is also responsible for co-ordinating the branding of Drogheda and its Hinterland, based upon highlighting the key comparative economic strengths identified in the Economic Development Strategy.
