Enjoy guided tours at Killineer House, Drogheda. Home to Charles and Eithne Carroll the house and gardens were completed together in the late 1830's and survive largely unchanged to the present day.
The 17 acres of gardens include formal terraces, an ornamental lake surrounded by woodland walks with an extensive collection of damp-loving plants. The 1.5 acre walled garden is stocked with herbaceous borders, vegetable plots and greenhouses brimming with peaches, nectarines and apricots. In the centre of a working farm, with extensive bird and other wildlife, this garden also has an elaborate regency summerhouse as well as an extensive laurel lawn, an unusual Victorian feature and the largest surviving in the country.
