Welcome to Drogheda on the Boyne!

Drogheda is a town rich in heritage located in Ireland’s Ancient East just 20 minutes from Dublin Airport.  Here you will find a wealth of unique attractions within walking distance of each other.  Take a walk around some of the ancient sites within the town’s old walls.  Discover the murals on the DRAWDA urban art trail.  Witness the vibrant culture celebrated in the towns many festivals and venues, and enjoy the shopping areas, restaurants, cafés and nightlife. 

Throughout its history Drogheda has been a site of military, civil and ecclesiastical importance.  Discover more on a visit to Saint Peters Church in the heart of the town where you can view the Shrine of Saint Oliver Plunkett, or take a tour of Drogheda Museum located on the hilltop at Millmount, where you can enjoy spectacular views.

Drogheda is also gateway to the world famous Boyne Valley region and the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Newgrange.  It’s the ideal centre from which to visit the treasures of Brú na Bóinne, Monasterboice, Oldbridge and Old Mellifont Abbey, and to explore all that County Louth has to offer.
