March 1st sees a very special double-bill consisting of beloved Galway songwriter Ultan Conlon and legendary Dublin improv jazz adventurers The Bonk, “A band playing with music at the end of its tether”. Vital, witty, mysterious and compelling ,The Bonk have released two acclaimed lps on Drogheda’s thirtythree-45 boutique music label. The Bonk seems to be a verb and ‘Greater than or equal to The Bonk.

Ultan Conlon has shared the stage with John Fogerty, Mavis Staples, Jackson Browne, Bryan Ferry, John Grant, Eddi Reader, Patty Griffin and Richard Hawley, and many of his critically acclaimed songs have received extensive airplay in Ireland (RTE Radio 1, Lyric FM) and the UK (BBC). ‘The Starlight Ballroom’, Ultan’s most recent studio album is produced by Grammy Award-winner David Garza and is his fifth record.

Night Moves - An innovative & dynamic programme designed to provide new & engaging night time cultural experiences across Drogheda & East Meath. Produced by Droichead Arts Centre, and delivered with curators SJ McArdle, Brian Hegarty, 33-45, Brenda McComesky & Dorothy Smith,  promoters & alternative venues, and in partnership with Love Drogheda BIDS, supported by the Arts Offices in Louth & Meath County Councils, and the newly established Night-Time Economy Advisor in Drogheda. This programme encapsulates our vision of extending cultural offerings, fostering partnerships, & creating diverse opportunities for artists & audiences alike, and is funded under the Arts Council’s Late Night Events (Pilot Programme) in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.
