✨ The Lú Festival of Light returns this October with captivating new stories, legendary tales, and stunning new animations. ✨

As darkness falls over Drogheda, Co. Louth, the Lú Festival of Light will once again transform the town's most iconic heritage buildings, bringing them to life through spectacular illuminations inspired by ancient myths. Visitors can journey through stories of Celtic gods and goddesses, mythical creatures, and legendary mortal heroes.

This year's theme explores the Celtic Calendar, including the harvest festival of Lúghnasa, named after the god Lúgh, and its progression towards Samhain. Through light and storytelling, discover the traditions, crafts, and customs associated with these significant dates, while delving deeper into the legend of Lúgh and the influence of the ancient gods and their descendants on the earth, the seasons, the harvest, and the stories of humankind.

This free, family-friendly event will also feature a vibrant street festival, with fire performers, stilt walkers, and enchanting characters designed to spark the imagination.

The Spooks parade returns with colourful characters, glowing creations, skeletons, surprises & plenty of spectacle as it makes its way through the heart of the town.

Explore a charming pop-up Cottage Market in the Dominican Church, where local artisans and craft producers will showcase a diverse range of handmade products, unique gifts, and creative works. Housed in one of Drogheda's most historic buildings, the market offers the perfect opportunity to meet makers, shop local, and enjoy a memorable cultural experience as part of the festival programme.

Alongside the outdoor festivities, visitors can also enjoy an exciting programme of ticketed events throughout the festival.
