Droichead Arts Centre and Drogheda Credit Union are delighted to announce the Drogheda Credit Union Spooks Parade 2026, "Temperature Rising" taking place on the 23 October 2026 at 18:15pm launching the LÚ Festival of Light".

The medieval streets of Drogheda are once again about to be taken over by the ancient towns Ghost and Ghouls as we embrace the Irish tradition of Samhain, Irelands celebration of welcoming the darkest nights of the year!

But fear not, this year's Spooks Parade may have the gruesome, oversized giant figure of “Ozzy the Heartless", the spirit taker, hoping to point his despicable boney fingers and find some spiritless souls to take home. For he has no hope, as anyone can tell you, even a heart who's "Temperatures Rising" has a "Hunka Hunka Burning Love!" within it!!! Local schools and community groups will spend the next few weeks creating costumes, props and rehearsing choreography all to celebrate the launch of the Drogheda's LÚ Festival of Light

Participating schools for 2026 are Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa, Aston Village ETNS, and St. Josephs NS who will be joined by community groups including the Emerald Baton Twirlers, Drogheda Special Olympics and Droichead Youth Theatre.

Live music will be provided by musicians from across County Louth including the Brian Murphy brass collective, Kieran McDonald, Martin Shields and more. Produced by Droichead Arts Centre and under the artistic direction of Kieran Gallagher (KadaKaBoomArts.com) and artists Breda Marron, Vivienne Byrne, Darrin Finnegan, Yvonne Dowd Gardiner and choreographer, Tracy Martin.

Children young and old, why not make double use of that Halloween costume and parade right along with them at the back of this year's "Drogheda Credit Union Spooks Parade 2026 "Temperatures Rising".

The parade goes from Barlow House to Lawrence Gate, dancing, singing, and throwing a uniquely Droghedonean sense of humour on the start of the nation’s spooky season.
