An RTÉ / KAIROS live broadcast of 'The Mass of the Bells' to celebrate St. Oliver Plunkett will take place on Sunday 23rd November, 2025 at 11a.m. from St Peter's Catholic Church, West St, Drogheda. The National Shrine of St. Oliver Plunkett.
Composed by acclaimed Drogheda composer Michael Holohan, with the assistance of Tadhg Murphy, director of The Drogheda Community Orchestra, in honour of two major anniversaries - St. Oliver Plunkett's 400th Anniversary and the 50th Anniversary of his Canonisation, as well the 50th anniversary of the death of Mother Mary Martin, founder of the International Missionaries of Mary. The composer was inspired to write this mass by the interconnected lives of St. Oliver and Mother Mary across the centuries.
The mass will feature over 200 performers, including choirs, solo singers, instrumentalists and The Drogheda Community Orchestra.
The broadcast on RTÉ national television will be an hour in duration and will also show footage of important locations around Drogheda and counties Louth and Meath associated with St. Oliver.
A limited amount of tickets are available at the event on a first come first served basis.
